Snowmobiling

My parents are so fun! They love to do everything outdoorsy. So this last weekend Kris and I finally decided to go up to Garden City and visit them. We went snowmobiling with my dad, Clint, Chris, and Greg. It was mostly the guys riding around on the hills; Chris and I stayed on the trails. There was a whole lot of sitting around drinking, bullshitting and soaking in the beautiful sunshine. We were out that day for five hours. It was so long but nobody really wanted to go back. After a few hours of riding I finally got up the guts to climb a hill. My heart was racing I thought for sure I was going to roll over backwards. Needless to say I didn't die but only I could get sunburned in the the middle of winter!

While we were out riding the sleds my mom was kind enough to watch Cooper. She also made some kickn' chili which was perfect after a day playing in the snow. While we were still eating we carried on with another tradition of games! We all love to play any kind of game. So we played Farkle (dice game), then Shreck Super party and then called it a night.

Sunday we played some more games and then Kris and I packed up and started the drive home. We disscussed how much fun it would be to buy the property across the street from my parents and build a home on it. Then the kids and I could move up there full time and Kris could live in a condo in the city during the week and come up to the lake on the weekends. It all sounds fun but unless we win the lottery I dont think it will happen.

Cakes are Yummy

Last night I had a second class on cake decorating. I am excited for what I will be able to do with my childrens birthday cakes after I am done with the series of classes. Plus its an activity that gets me out of the house every Tuesday for 2 hours. So far we have practiced stars and dots, and next week we get to make flowers and clowns. My hand hurt so bad from squeezing frosting out of bags last night I couldn't even put the yellow in the symbol. I thought I would share my masterpiece! I kinda messed up the Superman symbol but the cake itself supposedly tastes good!

Rice Cereal

So on Sunday we finally tried to give Cooper some rice cereal. Watch at see... (Sorry kinda long)

Since then he is actually getting better at eating. I love to watch the way he will look at the spoon. Its such a focused look it makes me laugh.

Today my friend Kammi and her 4 month old son came over to hang out. It was so cute to see the two boys together. Especially since Cooper was just gabbering the whole time. Blowing spit bubbles is his favorite thing to do too. Kahlin is so sweet and quite I barely heard him making any noise at all. Hopefully these two will be good friends growing up!

The Brain

Valentines it wasn't the best day ever. Cooper had two check ups to go to. Our first visit was to the Utah Dept. of Health for his first Neonatal follow up. I was not excited about that one at all. Its located up by Primary Childrens and after that horrific storm that rolled through here the night before I knew the driving was going to suck so I made sure we left 45 min early. I-215 wasn't so bad but as soon as I got off on Foothill dr. traffic was stopped. It was crazy how as soon as I got off the freeway the wind was coming off those mtns so fast my car was seriously shaking. Good thing Cooper sleeps in the car. Anyway the check up wasn't as bad as I though it was going to be either. They tell you to expect it to take 3 -4 hours! It only took us 2! Whew... They look at everything. But all the docs said they can't believe how awesome he is doing for only being 2 lbs when he was born. Our physical therapist called him an athlete! It was funny. Size wise he is about a 2 month old in height and weight. But his head is measuring like a 4 month old. So now his name is "The Brain"!

Our second appt was with his pediatrician for his 6 month well child visit. Not so fun!! Here come 5 shots. It wasn't good! He just screams bloody murder for 5 mins or so and then I can get him to calm down. I felt so bad. "Hey Cooper happy 1st Valentines Day" Now have some shots. Oh well he is doing better today. He was just grumpy last night.

Kris got me Dane Cook's new tour CD. I love Dane Cook I think he is just so funny. Kris also got Cooper the Jungle Book. So we are going to watch it this morning. Now I thought I was being so creative with Kris's gift but it just might not be so today. I went and bought some cassette tapes and recorded some of his fav CD's on them. He doesn't have a CD player in his work truck. Then when he gets home he tells me that he might be getting a newer work truck today. Oh GREAT there goes my totally great and inexpensive gift. It wasn't such a bad day but nothing fancy for sure.

I LOVE YOU more than I could ever explain Kris.

Hypospadias

We had an appointment yesterday up at Primary Childrens to see the Urology specialist. Cooper has a severe Hypospadias. What happend is his genatalia didn't develop correctly. He isn't peeing out the tip of the penis like a normal baby. His urethal opening is at the base of the penis and the top of the scrotom. I know it sounds weird but the doc says that 1 out of 125 boys is born with some form of Hypospadias. Our follow up appt went as expected. He is developing the same and will need two surgeries to fix it. If we choose not to fix it, it is very likely that he wouldn't be able to have sex as an adult and it would be more likely for him to get bladder and kidney infections. His first surgery is scheduled for April 10th. Its a same day surgery so we wont need to be spending any nights in the hospital. During the first surgery the doctor will straighten out the penis. As it is now curving downward. If all heals well then his next surgery will be 5 to 6 months later. That one will be making a tube that will go down the center of the penis and be a "urethra" that comes out the tip of the penis. Now out the two surgeries the second one is the most painful sounding. Poor boy wont be very happy with us but he will definately thank us in the long run!

Here is a cute video of Cooper checking out his toes.
