I hate the politics that are involved. I actually like things about both candidates. How do you choose just one?
I do think that real change for this country will start with Congress. So to them I say:
Do your job as a PUBLIC SERVANT! Not solely based on your political affiliation. Come together as Americans with a sense of purpose, honesty and patriotism to move our country FORWARD! If you are no longer able to compromise, resign and let fresh, new, and eager minds that will develop and reach over party lines for the benefit of our country. We the people are tired of this non-sense. Try walking / working in our shoes on a daily basis. You would develop a different perspective about your "job" in Congress.
For this reason I think that term limits in Congress should be established. I think "life-time" pay should be removed. Congressmen/women serve your terms then come back & join us the rest of us Americans. Its been a month since my "crack down". Directly after my last post we all cycled through what is now known as "THE cough". Needless to say I haven't been back to the gym since that time, but have been going on a walk with the kiddos & dogs as often as the weather allows it. I have only loss 4lbs but something is better than gaining!
Weight 222lbs
I will check in again in a month. (That is safe)Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-54013197014666474732012-02-03T09:48:00.006-07:002012-02-03T11:15:11.432-07:00Scary Facts & A fresh startScary Facts
I am owning up to the person I am. I do not feel like the person that I see the mirror. Here are the facts & they are scary. I am 5' 4", 226 lbs & a size 22. This shockingly is not the biggest I have been. While pregnant with Keys I reached 240. I know that is pregnancy but its still a huge number that never should have been. I didn't make a weight loss resolution because we all know how those go.
My out look on my weight changed on Jan 18th. I got the news that my Aunt Susan was in the hospital with kidney failure, pneumonia & was going to lose a leg due to diabetes. My aunt & I were not close by any means. I am thankful for FB that we were able to reconnect and learn about all the new things going our lives. Side note sorry! Aunt Susan was always a big women. Its a genetics thing on my dads side of the family. Jan 19th she passed away. Its always a super hard thing when someone dies so young. She was only 50, but she had been morbidly obese for the last 20 years of her life. Because of her passing my parents were deeply involved in the planning of her funeral because her family was broke & my parents were the only people who could afford a proper service for her. Its because of them I know that she was 550 lbs when she died. 550 lbs!!! This is in my DNA! That wasn't the biggest she had ever been. Just a year and a half earlier she weighed in at 700 lbs. This makes me cry every time I think about it.
Now my dads side of the family has a scary track record that I didn't know about. My grandma died @ 44 from a heart attack. My grandmas sister passed in her 50's from diabetes complications. Now my aunt. This is all not good news. The Forakis DNA is not kinda to the women it produces.

Fresh Start
I don't like the person I see in the mirror. Thankfully I have an amazing husband who makes me feel sexy. Thanks babe I love you! This is no longer the person I will be. I haven't had a soda since my Aunt passed. My hands no longer swell up. I am committing to being a healthier version of me. So that I wont be a statistic of the Forakis DNA I will be THE example! I am committing to going to the gym for 30min on Wed, Fri & Sun. I have been eating healthier & I feel better! Thanks to my mom pushing salads on me while at her house. I will be checking in weekly with weigh ins & recipes that are healthy and tasty.
So while owning up here is my BEFORE picture
Front

Side

Weigh In

Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-26181003750514880372011-05-19T10:18:00.004-06:002011-05-19T10:41:31.966-06:00Pregnancy & PuppiesIts amazing how one is preparing me of the other & how the other is making one alot harder!

This pregnancy is being AWESOME! No consisten swelling yet which is a blessing. I can feel baby girl moving constantly and I love it! Everything is checking out good. Whew

On the other hand this litter of puppies has turned me into an emotional mess. Morgan had 10 puppies which is a huge litter for a Boston Terrier. 1 puppy had a severe cleft pallete and had to be put to sleep less than 10 hrs after she was born. 2 days after the litter was born we discovered we had a runt. After further inspection I realized she was trying to nurse but unsuccessfully. She has problems latching on. So I have been bottle feeding her every 2-3 hrs. Today they are 10 days old and the runt has only gained 1 oz. All of the other pups are 3x bigger than her. I have an appt this afternoon with a vet for the runt to make sure she isnt sick and that we just need to tube feed her until she catches up. PLEASE god let that be the case because losing one puppy made me cry for hours & that was humane. If we lose our runt as well my heart will break all over again. We have decided not to breed Morgan & Optimus again. There is so much happiness and heart break in raising puppies.

This is the morning they were born

This is 10 day old piglets

Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-56904478192338557392011-03-15T11:00:00.003-06:002011-03-15T11:15:32.667-06:00Pregnant emotional rantWorking from home... Every mom thinks this could possibly be the best thing EVER! You still contribute to the income making you still feel useful. You get to be with your children ALL day and still take advantage of cleaning your home off and on.
Preconceptions are amazing things. My job isn't like that at all. I WORK all day. Like any normal out of home job. My son gets ignored all day and has become amazing self sufficent. He is being raised by Sprout. My home is destroyed by the time 5pm rolls around. Most days I try to get out of the house on my lunch break; just so I am not stuck in here all day. On days when Cooper and I aren't meshing well its 10 times worse because I am busy and he in my face or just being a 3 yr old and generally irritating. To top off all of this wonderfulness being pregnant throws tiredness and general emotional wreak into the picture.
Most days when Kris gets home I try to be atleast showered and possibly have my hair done. I dont want him to think I am a complete lazy ass by sitting around in my pj's all day. Kris's job doesn't help out at all. He works in sales and is talking on the phone all day. When he gets home he wants to eat dinner and then plop on the couch and rest. He likes silence. This doesn't work for me either. I want to kick him in the butt. TALK to me please!! YOUR son has been driving me nuts all day!! I just cooked dinner YOU clean up!! It amazes me how he can think that because I have been home all somehow my life is easier. Noway man! Its at least twice as hard as your job yet I am still expected to be the same when he is home. Even his friends have agreed with me.
If you can't tell today is one of those days. I figured this was a good place to rant.

NatKris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-37589569442260573762011-02-10T09:33:00.002-07:002011-02-10T09:43:48.855-07:00Doctor Run downMy first appt with my doc was last Monday so I thought I would post about it now. :)
I really like her! She works and delivers in St.Marks which isn't too far from our hacienda. She made time to sit and run through all things that we need to be extra careful of this pregnancy. Just little things like diet control and checking my blood pressure when I am at the grocery store will help. She is going to treat this pregnancy like a high risk preg starting at 22 weeks. I will go in every 2 wks starting then and then move up to every week at 30 wks. So I will have almost twice the amount of visits and I am not even having twins. It will cost us more but as long I dont go through delivering another baby at 29 weeks it is well worth the $$. We will have a normal ultrasound at 20 weeks and then every other visit I will go to Fetal Maternal Medicine and they will do a fetal scan to make sure the baby is growing at a normal rate. This is all because even though Coop was born at 29 wks he measured at a 27 wk baby. Also fetal scans will help in early detection of toxemia. For those who dont know this is why I had Cooper so early because I had severe toxemia set in over 2 days and by the time we got sent to the hospital it was too late to get my blood pressure down. Very scary experience but we are so blessed that Cooper hasn't had any major problems from early delivery.
Needless to say I feel really good about everything my doc had to say and am looking forward to a healthy happy baby at the end!

P.S. My mom has threatened to move in at the first sign of trouble. So its another incentive to stay healthy. Luv ya ma ;)Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-27445103349767736452011-01-06T10:49:00.002-07:002011-01-06T14:30:43.622-07:00Just an updateI know I haven't posted in a while but there hasn't been anything to awfully exciting. But now there is! I finally get to quit my night job!! YEAH I am so excited. I get to quit because we are expecting another Ottley to join our clan on August 19th. Its super hard to function off 7ish hours of sleep when pregnant. For me anyway! I am tired all the time. Also its really weird that I have been COLD since before I found out I was pregnant. If you know much about me I am hot blooded. Always always warm or even hot. Now I find myself in the opposite boat and its weird. But big fuzzy socks and naps in the sun are my new best friends. I am also debating actually buying a snuggie so I can sit at my computer and wear a blanket!! :)Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-39276643679951159352010-07-04T15:04:00.007-06:002010-07-04T15:59:36.275-06:00Then there was 1

They are all sold! It was at 1:15 when I heard the weirdest high pitch squeaking that I FLEW out bed and ran into the office. Sure enough Morgan met me at the door and in her "nesting bed" (plastic swimming pool) there was a tiny puppy. I was so pround of Morgan for not needing any assistance. She did it all! There were just a couple of puppies that we needed to tie off the umbilical cords and cut.

Heath Cleft was the last puppy born. He also has a cleft palette hence the name. I its very sad to know that he won't have a very good quality of life and vets wont do surgery to fix it. So we will most likely have to put him down. It really really makes me sad :,(

But overall this was a very successful litter. Morgan is a wonderful mother. Its a great Mothers day present for me as well!

Here are just a couple of pictures. I will post more in a couple of weeks when their eyes are open and I can handle them more.

Hennessy~ Girl 1st puppy

Heath cleft ~ Boy last puppy

Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-43483363685811624372010-05-05T14:30:00.003-06:002010-05-05T14:47:59.689-06:00Puppies~ Update
I took Morgan in this afternoon to get X-Rays; so we can see how many puppies she is expecting. Excuse me was my first thought. That's right 6 puppies for sure; possibly 7! OMG that is a bunch of pups for her first litter. I wish I could have had them print out the x-ray so I could scan it in and show everyone. Its actually kinda creepy looking, but also precious. There were 6 kiny skulls, but at one angle it looked like there might be 7. I am so excited! I just pray they will all be healthy & spunky puppies.

We are selling the puppies for $700 for right now. I have already got one puppy on hold for a buyer.

I was able to get belly pics today. I thinks its because she is getting huge she isn't as nimble as she once was.

55 days, 8 days to go

Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-891346206826609832010-04-12T15:37:00.002-06:002010-04-12T15:45:36.560-06:00Puppies on the way!!!
Morgan and Optimus are expecting their 1st litter of pups around May 12th! I am so excited and nervous. I have never whelped a litter before or even seen it done. But after talking to many people who have I am confident that I will be able to assit if Morgan needs me.

I have been trying to take progress pictures of her cute belly, but I think she thinks I am trying to steal her soul or something. Every picture I take she looks like I just hit her or she is in her kennell trying to hide. Its making me laugh but I really just want to share.

So here a picture of her thinking I am stealing her soul.
Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-3514401567894391082010-01-29T14:47:00.002-07:002010-01-29T15:24:06.305-07:00CurliocksI have fought with my naturally curly hair ever since I took over styling it by myself. In high school I used to go through 2 bottles of mousse and 2 bottles of hairspray a week! It was always a frizzy mess by the end of the day. Getting hair cuts is traumatizing! I only cut my hair once maybe twice a year because I have only had 2 positive hair cuts I can remember and those were recently. I am fairly certian I have tried almost every styling product out there. Under my sink was a graveyard for crappy hair products. Until recently!
For any woman who has naturally curly or wavy hair STOP treating your hair like straight hair! I have found a book that will forever change the way you wash and style your hair. Its called "Curly Girl" and its my new bible. Before I read this book my hair was dry and frizzy. I have used so many products that preach how to get rid of frizz and none of them worked. Come to find out shampoo is the culpret! It was designed to get the gunk out of your hair but it also strips all the essential oils out of your hair as well. No matter how much conditioner you use shampoo has already done the damage. So I challenge any one who has naturally curly or wavy hair to read this book. Try it and tell me what you think.

No more shampoo and no more blow dryer!
In coordination with the book the author also has a product line called Deva Curl. All of the products are magical; none of them have harsh chemicals.
Please visit www.devaconcepts.com

I only hope this post helps someone else release their curls from a chemical bondage.

I have much love for my curly hair now :)Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-9844178355033359862009-12-14T09:11:00.004-07:002009-12-14T09:40:48.081-07:00Tree and Christmas Gifts<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/SyZqExvbU-I/AAAAAAAABNo/folbYrIncdo/s320/DSCF4558.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5415132232263881698" />
Kris was so kind to go pick out our christmas tree this year. We had decided that since money is tight we would just get a small tree. Lets face it, it doesn't feel like christmas until the tree is up! Cooper loved to try and re-arrange the ornaments until he got in big trouble one night.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/SyZoq3ct7_I/AAAAAAAABNg/uvAShuA1hB4/s400/MonogramShirts.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5415130687607795698" />
So trying to find cute xmas gift ideas for my neices and nephew when I thought about this one. Its great because I can do all of them for $10 or less a piece. They are all getting a Monogram patch shirt with matching scarf(girls) or beanie(boys). I can't wait to see them with their shirts on I think it will make a super cute picture as well.Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-48781621785321715422009-12-04T11:24:00.003-07:002009-12-04T11:40:06.767-07:00UpdatingSo it has been a very busy three months since my last post. I have started 2 new jobs. Which makes 3 part time jobs and a 70 hour work week. I work Tues-Thurs at Gold's gym in the daycare. Its not alot of $$ but I can bring Cooper with so it evens out. I have also been working at the Post Office doing data entry since Nov 7th. I work from 6:30p - 12:30a Wed-Fri and 5:30p - 2a on Sat and Sunday. I am not really looking forward to the next three weeks as I will be working from 6:30p-3a or longer. Obviously this is the busy season for the Post Office. I wont really be a functioning human but I will physically be present. Definately worth it in the long run.
Other than that the most recent action was a date night with my mom and Juanita. My mom wanted to purchase a Tree that her friend donated to the Festival of Trees. April along with her mom and sisters decorated a tree in memory of their sister Candice. She passed away 2 years ago from HELP. Its something like Toxemia but worse. Anyway of course it really touches me and the fact that Candice's little boy survived only makes the chills and tears start. Their tree was perfect! Not too goddy and not underdone. It was Candy themed and so adorable. Unfortunately my mom wasn't able to win it. She got out bid by someone who was donating the tree to a family with disabled children. So it was all good.
I really love the Festival of Trees it gives me such good ideas for my own tree. We did decide that next year we are going to decorate and donate a wreath. If all goes well we will do a tree the following year. I know its a year away but I am already excited for it.Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-488758885275964752009-09-28T10:22:00.004-06:002009-09-28T10:31:12.341-06:00TurkeysI was scamming the internet this past weekend when I came across a very cute onesie with an adorable turkey on it. It was hand made and the stitching on it was amazing. Unfortuneately the lady wanted $35 for it. NO is my first thought, " I can make that" is my second. After a couple of tries here is what I ended up with.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/SsDjX3JW4CI/AAAAAAAABNQ/BIRziCfJKY4/s400/DSCF3880.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386555153414807586" />

So now I have all this extra fabric so I am thinking I can make more! So to my friends whom like this and have an extra $10. I am selling a version of the turkey pictured above(no legs). I made them into patches so you would just have to iron them on. If you would seriously like one. I can have them for you the next day. I also make a girl version with more pink in the fabric instead of blue.
Pictured below is the girl version and actual patch.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/SsDkJI0JzhI/AAAAAAAABNY/-KDTB4nClr0/s400/DSCF3885.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386555999971298834" />

Please contact me at nottley@yahoo.com if you are interested.Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-59056245017930601432009-09-01T15:46:00.002-06:002009-09-01T15:49:43.095-06:00PUPPIES<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/Sp2W6xnos0I/AAAAAAAABMg/5NeE3HSdriw/s400/DSCF3715.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5376619466646401858" />
Optimus bred with a sweet female named Tonka in June. It used to be you would get a jar and poke 50 holes in the lid, then stuff the jar with some leaves and a twin and then find EVERY bug in your moms garden until it was full.
Now-a-days it is a whole different ball game. I have been watching my three nieces every Tuesday this summer. They are 12, 8 and 5. Not bad they usually end up entertaining Cooper all day. It works out very nicely. A couple of weeks ago the youngest brought over a sour cream container with 20ish potato bugs in it. That is cool! So I proceed to tell her there a ton of snails in my yard and she can have as many as she wants. *Special side note:she already told me she likes to torture them. After lunch I took her out in my garden and we found a big snail. She put some leaves in this new age bug cage and tossed the snail in.
A while later I am in my office, Cooper is sleeping, and the girls are watching a movie. All the sudden I hear Kammi start to say something I can't make out because it is super high pitch and whiny! As I round the corner I hear "Lexi its gone, Its not here, what did you do to it." The "cage" that was once contained a snail is empty and sitting on my couch. This is not a serious thing but the girls start freaking out. So I go in to investigate and start moving pillows around on the couch and there he his!
I almost busted a gut. I was laughing so hard. Here is the escapee!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/SldZUGnaukI/AAAAAAAABMY/kZ_-m6zvt94/s400/DSCF3156.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356848483688692290" />
I wish you could see it better but there is a wonderful snail trail all the way up the pillow. Thank goodness for microfiber!Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-41981011953778316092009-06-26T07:58:00.002-06:002009-06-26T08:13:58.604-06:00Cooper's Surgery #3I have been wanting to post about Cooper's surgery for a while but things have gotten hectic.
Anyway His surgery was on June 4th and luckily it was in the first set of surgeries that day. We had to be at Primaries Same Day surgery at 6a.m.! That part sucked but the rest went great. He was slightly hesitant when I handed him over to the anesthesiologist but who wouldn't be! This man was at least 70 and shorter than me. After 3 1/2 hours the Doctor Si came in and talked to us about the surgery. He said everything was much easier to work with this time. He was very hopeful that this one would work. Gave us the run down on how to care for Coop's pee pee in the weeks to follow and told us to take off the bandage in 48 hours. He had put steri strips over the incision to help hold it together a little better and that those would take 10 to 14 days to fall off on their own.
After another 15 min I was called back to go be with Cooper while he was in post-op. He was unusually tired so they let him sleep for 30min and then transferred him to recovery. He drank some juice and they let us go home.

**UPDATE**
Two weeks later everything is looking great! There is some "breaking down" of some of the incision but it all on the surface. He actually pees out the tip of his penis now!! We go back in on Cooper's birthday for his final check up.Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-50352149916378117902009-06-03T11:55:00.012-06:002009-09-01T16:00:50.123-06:00Florida VacationOh where to begin...
How about the beginning!

Our flight left SLC at 10am Saturday morning.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 236px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/Sp2Xm8YZVwI/AAAAAAAABMo/due-gWVf3m8/s400/DSCN6845.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5376620225449514754" />
After 4 hours on a completely packed plane we landed in Orlando around 4pm and proceeded to get our luggage and then go pick up our rental cars. We waited in line for and hour and 15min to get to the counter. Then then told me they need a credit card so I handed them Kris's credit card. OH NO it needed to have my name on it. Well folks I don't have a credit card. So they were trying to put a $400 hold on the card. I had maybe $30 in my account. None of my cards would allow a $400 hold. So after much discussion with the manager and since we booked them on Budget.com she was able to change it to Kris's name and off we went to pick up our cars. Now came a serious challenge. We rented two standard cars. Ford Taurus like vehicles. We had 8 adults all with 1 piece of luggage and some of us had a carry on. We also brought our stroller. Hahaha it was a gong show watching us trying to organize the trunks so we could fit all our luggage. Thank god there are only 2 times on our trip we had to do that.
After finally getting packed into vehicles we were off to Dayton Beach! It was at least an hour drive there. It was a very long day of traveling so we picked up a couple of pizza's while my mom and dad met with the caretaker of the condo we were renting. Ahhh kick your shoes off have a much needed beer and put the baby to sleep.

Our first real day of vacation was spent hanging out at the beach and walking the pier in downtown Dayton. There is some of the best people watching in places like that. Not to mention we were being watched ourselves. Cooper thought it was super funny to stick not just one but both of his fingers up his nose. While we were walking down the pier. It was hilarious and everyone who passed was laughing, but also gross! Then we enjoyed an early dinner at the restaurant at the end of the pier. Mmmm
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/Sp2YqyydxCI/AAAAAAAABM4/c7SDiUJGJL0/s400/DSCN6880.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5376621391105606690" />

Day 2 we decided it was a good day for the Kennedy Space Center. So we packed up and hopped in the car for an hour car ride south to Cape Canaveral. Arriving around 11 we wandered the immediate area for a minute. Checked out the "rocket garden" which displayed old rockets and stated what milestone they accomplished and facts about them. Some more wandering then lunch. After lunch we kept thinking this can't be all there is. So mom went and talked to someone and found out there is a whole tour that stops at three different places in Kennedy and lets you see an old launch site, the Saturn 5 rocket, and I cant remember the last stop. But we had already bought tickets to see the new Star Trek in the theater there and 6:30. So we only had time for one stop in the tour and we picked stop #2. It was so cool to go in there. They show you the original launch room and go through what it takes to launch a space ship and then do a demo of what it would have been like. After that you can go into the next room, which is a warehouse, where they keep the Saturn 5 rocket on display. It was truly amazing to see how big it really is. They had it broken apart into its respective pieces so you could see all the electrical work and hatches. It was such and interesting stop in our vacation. It really put into perspective that we go into space! People have walked on the moon, and soon with their new Ares project possibly Mars!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/Sp2ZBWD80CI/AAAAAAAABNA/EU575jrt6Wo/s400/Picture+017.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5376621778531307554" />

Day 3 was much like Day 1. More hanging out! I like the down days. It really makes the vacation relaxing.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/Sp2YRCmWrrI/AAAAAAAABMw/S8F8LqgvwHY/s400/DSCN6847.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5376620948673179314" />

Day 4 Disney World! Another hour ride into Orlando, but I was semi excited because I had never been. Also slightly excited to see what Cooper thought of everything. Honestly could have not done it in fore thought and been ok with that fact. So many things have changed since I was a kid. First of all back in the day... Characters walked the park willy nilly and signed autographs and took pictures. Now they have body guards and you have to wait in a nice line to get any pictures or autographs. There for I didn't do it! Most of the rides in the park are geared towards small children. 1 in 5 maybe is fun enough for an adult. Space Mtn was closed so we were all pretty bummed because that is the only ride we remember which means its way fun right! Anyway we toured the park and Cooper on the rides that he could ride. He loved the carousel, The Dumbo Ride, and the Buzz Lightyear. My Mom and Dad were kind enough to hang out with him while we waited an hour to ride Splash Mtn. While we were waiting they watched the main street parade that had all the characters out. After that we were all fairly spent and decided since we were in Orlando we would try to find the Corona Cigar Company. It was just a short 15 min drive on the freeway. Now for those of you who know my dad. He is infamous for turning a short drive into a "3 hour tour"! Long story short it took us an hour and a half to find it. Kris was just lucky that there was a sushi place right next door that we could eat at!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/Sp2ZXqDvEGI/AAAAAAAABNI/91m1M1SOCgs/s400/Copy+of+DSCN6915.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5376622161856237666" />

Day 5 was another down day. My dad and Austin went back into Orland to a Wakeboarding park. They said it was an awesome set up and well worth the $40 bucks it took to get in. Everyone else hung out at the beach and condo.
Day 6 was our day in Saint Augustine. It is the oldest city in the US. There was so much history there. We saw the oldest wooden school house. There was a re-enactment of the cannons firing at the fortress. It was an awesome place to visit. I just wish it wasn't the hottest day. It made it really miserable and we didn't walk around and see all the cool things because everybody was getting grumpy. I did however manage to lose our camera somewhere. I believe it was in Ripley's Believe it or not, but nobody has turned it in yet!
Day 7 we flew home. There was more stupid drama, but I wont get into it. Airport security is so frustrating!Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-68731888312860072382009-06-03T11:34:00.005-06:002009-06-03T11:54:08.961-06:00A Plethera of thingsIt has been 2 months since I last posted and I apologize. Summer session starts June 5th and we will be signing him up again but only for 1 day a week.
Anyway He is improving so much! He started slapping the water; when he was supposed to be doing strokes. Also he started kicking his legs which is a HUGE thing. It also sucks because of course it was his last day. I am afraid he wont retain what he has learned but I guess that is something we will have to see. Of course when the doc gives him the go ahead to be in the water again we might just do some more lessons. Who know.
Here are a few videos of the week.
BTW the screaming is from another baby in the pool.
From Tuesday:

From Wednesday

From Thursday
Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-68928373747888689442009-03-30T09:39:00.008-06:002009-03-30T10:24:05.777-06:00SeattleFriday Cooper and I headed to the airport around 5:30. Thinking the security lines might be a little bit longer, but no! We cruised right through and then found out that our flight was delayed by 45 min. Not to bad but bad enough when the terminals are packed and you have a toddler how wants to run. When our plane finally arrived and we boarded the plane I was trying to point out ever little thing on the plane to get Cooper distracted from the sound. He was so good during take off. As soon as I felt that my ears needed to pop I gave him some milk and he didn't have any problems. He stayed awake until the pilot announced we were decending into Seattle. Then he fell asleep. You never realize how heavy 22 lbs can be until you have to carry it through an airport and try and pick up your luggage while juggling a car seat as well. Of course I finally got it figured out and then he woke up.
Anyway... Friday night when we got to her apartment we set up the crib for Cooper to sleep in and then layed him down because it was 2 hours past his normal bed time. Then Abi, Kip and I just hung out talking till 1a.m. (2a.m. our time).
Because it is vacation doesn't mean we get to sleep in! Cooper woke up at his normal time. Which just happened to be 6a.m. Seattle time. NO WAY man. I forced him back to sleep; after 30 min of crying. Then Abi's little boy Nathan walked in around 8 a.m. and started playing with toys in the room. It scared the fart out of me. So I got up with the kids. Because if you know Abi you should know that any time she can, she will sleep till noon! She didn't this time. I was shocked to see her out of bed at 9 a.m. Of course she did take a 3 hour nap later in the day. We didn't do anything all day. Her family came over at 6 and we ate and played a couple of games and then I hit the sack at 10 because unlike Abi I didn't take a 3 hour nap.
Yesterday was a much better day. Cooper and I woke up and got in the shower while everyone was still sleeping. After playing with the kids for a couple hours and watching Role Models we decided to go to lunch. La Hacienda was fairly good. Cooper totally dug his lunch. It showed all over his face and clothes. When we were done the sun was still out so we went to a local park that was right on the beach. Cooper really likes going down the slide so we did that about 5,000 times. We all walked out on the bridge/ walkway on to the water. Then back to the park for maybe 2,000 times more down the slide. I thought for sure this would wear out all of the kids but oh how I was wrong! They stayed awake while we drove to Snoqualmie Falls. Its a waterfall that isn't too far. It amazed me. Only because the Seattle area is all rolling hills. When you park you walk up this hill and all of the sudden there is a canyon with this beautiful waterfall. WHAT waterfalls are in the mountains. Not in hills!
After that we headed back to the apartment so I could pack and then we had to head to the airport. The flight back was even better. I gave Cooper a little bit of Children's Benadryl. He fell asleep while the plane was taking off.
I miss my Abi and am grateful that I am able to go visit her every once in a while.
Here are a few pictures.
Alyssa, Cooper & I
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 280px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/SdDwoPDnZ1I/AAAAAAAABGI/kCx4zHXvLH8/s400/DSCN6447.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319015733951686482" />
Nathan & Cooper playing together
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/SdDw3LBVAzI/AAAAAAAABGQ/TQXxzEi8w4g/s400/DSCN6449.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319015990566388530" />
All of us at the park by the beach
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/SdDxGfUOT0I/AAAAAAAABGY/q_0bakP8Wg0/s400/DSCN6456.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319016253712387906" />
Going down the slide by himself
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/SdDxU0Mgn8I/AAAAAAAABGg/Cx8rAYcrSJc/s400/DSCN6462.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319016499835346882" />
Snosqualmie Falls
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/SdDxkVCqSCI/AAAAAAAABGo/WRP5dJlYgfs/s400/DSCN6467.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319016766350444578" />
Cooper watching the planes take off. YEAH I hate shots and especially when I have to hold him. Its sad when he cries so hard there isn't any sound. (nice, but sad)
Yesterday Cooper had a "break-through" in his swimming lessons. He cried when I handed him to the instructor and then....
NOTHING He actually smiled multiple times and even giggled once. Holy cow how things can change over night. He did so good with every thing. His floating has been especially bad for the last two weeks and yesterday was AWESOME. I know its weird to be so happy about this but for a while I was afraid that it was just making him scared of water. Not a good thing in my family.
Here is a video of him practicing his "scoops" and smiling!
Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-58634225324166638122009-03-18T15:59:00.003-06:002009-03-18T16:28:45.935-06:00Swimming Lesson-Week 3Today marked Cooper's 6th lesson so I thought I would share with you how he is doing. He has been consistently good with floating. He usually holds very still and is even floating on his own for a couple of seconds. Today was the exception on that one though. He is also getting better at closing his mouth when they go to put him under water. No more choking but he is still crying most of the time. He will calm down half way through and then start back up the last couple of minutes. They also have him grab rings out of the water that are on a step; he wouldn't do until today. He is doing so good! I am proud of my little fishy and can't wait to go swimming with him myself.
Here are a couple of video's:
He is so calm in this one

Not so much in this one

Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1054814694925447756.post-60410124584915031852009-03-15T21:43:00.003-06:002009-03-15T22:09:20.199-06:00FriendsI know in our last post I had mentioned Zac & Staci. So this post is a tribute to our new BFF's. Zac and Kris bowl on a Monday night league together and have for the past few years. It wasn't until a couple of months ago that we started hanging out on a semi-regular basis. We all get along so well together and that is hard to find for us. I have found that once you are married most of your friends come through your husbands friends wives and girl friends. I never really wanted to believe that but my denial is over!
I have 3 friends that I call my own. Meaning I had them before I met Kris. These are my best friends and they know who they are. Unfortunately we are all at points in our lives that are very busy and we don't get together as much as we should.
Anyway it seems that this last week except for the 3 days we were all sick. We have hung out with Zac & Staci. Mostly they come over to watch Jazz games or other sporting events. Friday night Staci had a Scentsy party that I did for her. Zac went over to our house to hang with Kris and Cooper. Saturday Morning they came over and watched the Jazz game and we grilled Hamburgers. After the game we went bowling. Then they had to go meet up with Zac's family for a while. Well they ended up calling a couple hours later and wanted to come back over and play games and hang out. We ended up playing a couple of drinking games (after Cooper went to bed). Party of 4 was over at one in the morning. Today they came back over for another Jazz game and dinner and then we played some more card games (sober this time). Its weird to find a couple that you can spend this much time around and not get sick of each other. One of the best parts about them is Cooper LOVES them. He and Zac give high 5's all the time its so cute!
I just think that friends are so important to a person's sanity. Its even better to find couple friends that both of you love to be around and like to be around you too. Mine and Kris's personalities balance each other out so I always love to find other couples who are the same as us.
Ottley's Bowling
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/Sb3QTqyhwYI/AAAAAAAABFw/nu1Z9elJ9To/s320/DSCN6328.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5313632171689361794" />
Drunken Farkle
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_QYmfeMtBBhs/Sb3QwD1xVMI/AAAAAAAABF4/_b8OMEN1gxE/s320/DSCN6370.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5313632659450188994" />Kris and Nathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08950322531905559513noreply@blogger.com0
